Being located in Bangkok’s first road, next to Chao Phraya river, it’s quite easy to understand why they named it New Road Guesthouse, isn’t it? It’s not a so touristic area of Bangkok, so the tourists staying at the guesthouse will get to see the most real part of the city. And in any case don’t worry because to reach the center or to explore the city there are good connections with sky train, boat and bus.
When you arrive at New Road they will receive you with enthusiasm, followed by a useful information pack regarding what to see in Bangkok, including also the most unusual and less touristic attractions. If you still have doubts or would like to have some more advise, book a tour or need a hand with trains, buses and planes there is an information desk right next to the reception. There, a Go Beyond travel advisor will be glad to help you out with everything.
About the guesthouse itself, besides that one of the common areas in the main building has been recently beautifully renewed, we have to say that can suit every kind of traveler. Starting from families that can lodge in a big and spacious room, to backpackers that still want some privacy and they can stay in a simple private room, until the travelers that prefer a budget accommodation and opt for the dorm.
We stayed in the double private room with AC, where the dominant colour was a vibrant green. The bedroom was spacious and equipped with TV, minibar, kettle and also a sofa that could be turned into a bed. For any of those rooms there is not breakfast included, but if you want in the morning there is a buffet with a choice of one a-la-carte dish.
The place is cozy, with young and nice staff working there. In the common areas, there are stuffed bench everywhere, so comfortable to chill moreover while drinking their 24/7 complimentary coffee and tea.
Ah! And let’s not forget the hammocks on the rooftop, where in case of overbooking you can sleep a night for free before to get your bed in the dorm!
