Located near Sairan metro station in the city of Almaty there is West Point Hostel, a brand new business started by two Kazakh brothers.
While we were there it was really full, with also some local guys living. There are two dorms rooms, located in the second floor and they both have four bunk beds. If you would like some privacy, do not worry because there is also a private double room available, but also in this case the bathroom will be shared with the other guests.
On the first floor there are the common areas. A big hall with a sofa where you can chill & watch TV, if you are familiar with Kazakh or Russian languages, or if not you can always play with the Playstation4. As well, there are available some board games and many books to read, even if the majority are in Russian.
If you are travelling and you don’t bring a PC with you, will be happy to know that at the hostel there are also two computers for the necessities of the guests. In the shared kitchen, located also in the first floor, there is 24/7 complimentary coffee and tea and of course you are free to cook whenever you want your food.
Even if the rooms are a little small and the place is a bit out of the center, in the hostel there is a very nice atmosphere, it’s clean (in fact every morning the housekeeper come to clean it all) and it is well connected to the center and the airport thanks to buses and metro.
